Installing Ensim® Pro and Ensim Basic 3.7 for Linux® (LS) on an existing Fedora 1.0 serverJanuary 2, 2004
Introduction
This guide provides instructions on installing Ensim® Pro and Ensim Basic 3.7 for Linux® (LS) on a pre-configured Fedora Core 1.0 server using the Installer.

For simplicity, we refer to Ensim Pro and Ensim Basic 3.7 for Linux (LS) as Ensim Control Panel throughout this document.
Installing Ensim Control Panel simply involves creating an Installer file (completing the Installation wizard will create this file), then downloading and running this Installer file on the target server. The time required to install Ensim Control Panel is approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Please ensure that the pre-installed Fedora setup meets the following minimum specifications:
Package Group Selection: Network Servers and Text-based Internet
You must select the ncftp package listed in the Package Group Text-based Internet.
You can opt for an installation type of your choice.

Before you install
The following section describes the minimum system requirements and provides a checklist to help you prepare for the installation.
System requirements
Your system must meet the following minimum requirements.
Table 1. Disk partitions /boot: At least 50 MB/: All of the remaining disk space since Ensim Control Panel uses the /home partition to store the site information.You may want to customize your disk partitions to manage the available disk resources on the target server. - The file /etc/hosts file on the target server has to contain the server’s host name and IP address, as shown in the following example. If it does not, use an editor to modify the file.

Use the following checklist to verify that you have adequately prepared your system for a successful installation.

Installing Ensim Control Panel
The following section provides instructions for installing Ensim Control Panel.

Before you follow the instructions in this section, run the Installation Wizard and download the Installer file LWPInstaller.sh to the Fedora Core 1.0 server where you want to install Ensim Control Panel. If you have not downloaded the Installer file, please visit https://lwpwizard.ensim.com/webgui/overview.php and run the wizard.

To install Ensim Control Panel:
- Log on to the Fedora Core 1.0 server where you downloaded the Installer file.
- Change to the directory where you saved the Installer file.
#cd /<dir_name> where <dir_name> is the name of the directory where you downloaded the Installer file.
- Run the Installer by typing the following command at the prompt:
#sh LWPInstaller.sh
If you chose the Ensim Control Panel CD-ROM option in Step 3 of the wizard, you will be prompted to insert the CD-ROMs (disk 1 and disk 2).
- Optional: Insert the Ensim Control Panel CD-ROM disks (when prompted) in the disk drive of your target server and press Enter.
The Installer begins installation of Ensim Control Panel. All the services and add-ons provided by Ensim Control Panel are installed.

You must install the Power Tools license to use the Power Tools add-on. See Appendix A: Installing the Power Tools license for details.
- After installation, you need to set up Ensim Control Panel before you can access or perform administrative tasks. To set up Ensim Control Panel, open a Web browser, enter the URL http://<server host name (or IP address)> and fill in the required setup information.
Appendix A: Installing the Power Tools license
You must install the Power Tools license before Site Administrators can install and configure the required tool. If the Power Tools license is not installed, Site Administrators will get the following error message when they attempt to install a tool, “ERROR: Power Tools License is not installed. Please install a Power Tools License.”

To install the Power Tools license:
- Log onto the Appliance Administrator control panel.
- In the System Menu section, click Configuration.
- In the Configuration sub-menu, click License.
The License page opens, displaying the Ensim Control Panel license.
- Click the Install/Upgrade Power Tools License tab.
- Select one of the following options to install the license.
Appendix B: Troubleshooting installation issues
If you encounter problems that you cannot troubleshoot or resolve using the information in Table 3 or the log files (see Log files), contact Ensim for online support at https://onlinesupport.ensim.com
Log files
Ensim Control Panel creates log files that record various actions and events that qualify an installation. You may refer to the log files to troubleshoot fault points encountered during an installation. The log files are emailed to the specified email address.
